Unfortunately there isn't much consistency when it comes to hosiery sizing. One brand's medium could, conceivably, be another's extra large.
Therefore to keep things simple, we include measurements within the drop down size listing on each product page. So, for example, instead of just "small" we may say "small (4'11"-5'4", 150-163cm)".
The most important measurement is usually your height so that's what we're referring to unless mentioned otherwise. In the example above, the product is designed to fit someone of height from 4'11"-5'4" (150-163cm).
However tights often also include a hip measurement and on occasion manufacturers may also specify products by shoe size or dress size.
Sizing can also be volumetric - particularly on traditional 100% non-stretch nylon products. In other words, if your legs are very slim, the hosiery will come up higher. If you're fuller figure and it has to stretch to accommodate width, it may come up short.
If that all sounds confusing, then relax... it soon starts to make sense. If in doubt, or if you're on the border or two sizes, you may find the larger one more comfortable.
